Pennsylvania native, singer-songwriter Taylor Swift has been breaking musical records since 2006. Today marks one of the biggest accomplishments in her career thus far as she released her much-anticipated fifth album, 1989. Swift began planning for this album back in 2013, and has since then built up suspense for fans across the world. Veering away from her country past, she was determined to make this an album inspired by late-'80s pop.

EDM NEW YEARS TAKEOVER

Popular electric dance music DJs, Skrillex and Diplo, are planning to hit the big apple to ring in the new year at Madison Square Garden for what could be one of the most intense EDM raves of our time.

The pair just announced the special holiday show as part of their ongoing Jack Ü project, which dropped the official studio version of "Take U There" featuring "Hideaway" singer Kiesza. Skrillex and Diplo will each take the decks solo on New Year's Eve before teaming up together for a collaborative set at their MSG gig. Tickets for the 18-and-over event vary from $55 to $150, Not bad for spending NYE in the city that never sleeps. Special guests will be announced for the show at a later date.

Foo Fighter's Front Man, Dave Grohl, Quoted Saying They Have the "Dumbest Band Name Ever"

Long time rocker and former drummer of Nirvana, Dave Grohl, takes a lot of credit for his success as lead singer of one of the hottest rock bands in history, Foo Fighters. One thing he would change if he had the chance?

The name of the band. 

In a recent interview with Anderson Cooper, Grohl is quoted saying, "Had I imagined that it would last more than a month and a half, I might have named it something else." He goes on to say, "It's the dumbest band name ever." Foo Fighters are releasing a documentary for Sunday night's episode of 60 Minutes. Go on and check it out because apparently unlike the name of the band, the music rocks.

Merry Christmas to Music Lovers Around the World

There's a GRANDE surprise for Ariana Grande fans all over the world. Rumor has it she is teaming up with some pretty rad artists to star in a Christmas special and everyone is invited. The show is planned to air on December 5th and word on the street is that Pharrell, Maroon 5, and Tim McGraw are also expected.

This televised special is one of a kind holiday special. It will be a concert series titled, "A Very Grammy Christmas Special," and the pop stars will take turns performing their greatest hits in addition to holiday classics.

Lil Wayne's Tha Carter V will NOT Drop Tomorrow

Say it ain't so! Weezy was expected to release his 11th studio album tomorrow, October 28th 2014, but Young Money president, Mack Maine confirms the drop date has indeed been pushed back. This famous rapper has been releasing singles from this album like, "Believe Me", "Grindin", and "Krazy" since early 2014.

Tunechi has been collaborating with his YMCMB family in order to make this album the best Carter yet. Kendrick Lamar also hinted at being featured in this greatly-anticipated album which has just made fans even more eager. Sad day tomorrow for Wayne fans- stay patient y'all, it'll be worth the wait.

APPS FOR MUSIC LOVERS

If you are a music lover like myself, there are apps for both Apple and Android devices, worth downloading. With our busy daily lives, it's hard to keep up with the latest in music news, but these apps help to keep you in the loop.

BILLBOARD: I'm a huge fan of the Billboard Top 100 app because it gives you the hottest 100 singles in today's music. It is extremely easy to navigate through and beneficial if you want to know the names and artist's of the popular song you've been hearing on the radio.

PANDORA: Pandora is an amazing free app that allows you to select an artist and it creates an ever-changing playing with songs from similar artists and genres. You are able to like and dislike songs which will help to alter your playlist to your particular liking.

iTunes: Apple's music app, iTunes, is a place to purchase, research and store music either on your computer or right on your phone. iTunes is the best of both worlds, giving you the ability to do just about anything musically related right at the touch of a finger.

SPOTIFY: Spotify is similar to Pandora in the streaming sense. It allows you to research music by artists, songs, and genres of your liking. To remove adds from this app you can purchase Spotify Premium for a small monthly fee. (Worth it!)

My name is Samantha Cummons and I am an enthusiastic student entering my senior year at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania. In May of 2015, I will receive a degree in Mass Communications with a concentration in Public Relations and minor in Professional Writing. I am the Public Relations chair of the Bloomsburg University Student Concert Committee, looking forward to a future career in the music or television industry.

I have always found myself genuinely interested in the music industry and what it entails. Researching the hottest hits and new singles of today's artists is my greatest form of entertainment, and I'm here to share it all with you!
